Influenced by the world around me, living and dead.
Hi! I’m Meagan, a New Bedford based mum, artist and massage therapist. I create compositions with pressed flowers and plants.
I’ve always sought out creative outlets, following what felt good. Wanting to save the flowers from my grandmothers memorial is what encouraged me to bring out the flower press we used together in my childhood. Preserving and designing with them felt cathartic and intuitive, I craved more plant material to work with. Wedding bouquets, roadside flowers, leaves from local trails, gifts from the backyards of loved ones. Giving plants new ways to exist in the world brought me joy and my connection to plant life around me only continued to grow.
Six months later, my mom unexpectedly passed. The only thing that made sense and felt good, was continuing to move petals around.
I like getting lost in repetitive, tedious work and often called to geometrical patterns. I hope whoever sees my work feels it’s something they can get lost in, too.
With gratitude,
Meag
